At the start of the 2024 landscaping season, we kicked off an exciting project in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. The homeowners didn’t just want a basic pond; they wanted a dynamic outdoor space where they could relax, entertain, and enjoy nature. Our team took that vision and turned it into a stunning, functional retreat.
A Unique Water Feature with a Bold Design
The focal point of this project is an inline pond that flows into a cascading waterfall. We designed it with a Negative Edge, creating the illusion that water spills into infinity. This feature doesn’t just look great from one angle; it’s meant to be experienced from multiple viewpoints. As you explore the property, new details reveal themselves: hidden streams, additional waterfalls, and a driftwood-covered fish cave that adds a touch of whimsy.
Locally Sourced Materials Add Authenticity
Nearly 95% of the rocks and boulders in this landscape came directly from the property. This choice not only kept the design grounded in its surroundings but also created a more authentic and natural look. Every piece of stone, whether large or small, played a role in crafting an organic, cohesive outdoor space.
Collaboration Led to Exciting New Features
As the project evolved, so did the design. What began as a straightforward water feature grew into something much larger, thanks to the homeowners’ enthusiasm. Together, we brainstormed additional elements like a second patio, custom stone steps, and a unique fire pit carved from a single massive boulder.
